What is MentorLabs, and how does it work?
MentorLabs is an on-demand mentoring platform for startup founders. It connects entrepreneurs with experienced mentors who provide actionable advice and guidance. You can browse through a diverse pool of mentors, choose the one that suits your needs, and schedule sessions as and when you need.
Does MentorLabs or the Mentor take any equity from my startup?
No, MentorLabs and mentors on our platform do not require any founder to offer equity for booked sessions.
Do I need to subscribe to the platform in order to access and book mentors?
No, we do not require you to subscribe to our platform to access and book our mentors.
What topics can I get mentoring on?
You can seek mentoring on a wide range of topics related to starting a business. These include ideation (the problem you're solving and why), marketing, finance, product development, UX/UI design, legal, fundraising and more.
How will a mentor know what specific help I need from them?
When you book a session, you’ll be asked to give some details on the issues and problems you’d like to discuss and get help with. We’ll then generate an agenda and send it to your chosen mentor in preparation for your scheduled session.
How will the session with the mentor take place?
We have a built-in video platform so you don’t have to go off the platform. Simply stay logged into your MentorLabs profile and dashboard where you can start your session. We’ll even record the session for you.
What if I have wifi issues and can’t connect?
We ask you to check this well in advance and be in a good wifi area. If for any unforeseen circumstance, you cannot connect, we’ll arrange to reschedule this session with your mentor if you notify us on the help email - [email protected]
What qualifications do MentorLabs mentors have?
MentorLabs mentors come from a range of backgrounds. What they do have in common is that they have experience and expertise in helping startup founders. They are often successful entrepreneurs themselves who have raised funds for their startup or industry experts and professionals with relevant qualifications in their expertise.
Am I obliged to commit to a minimum number of sessions with a mentor?
Feel free to use a single session to test out any mentor.
What if I need ongoing or long-term mentoring?
That's precisely why we offer mentoring packs of 3 or 5 sessions, enabling you to structure your mentoring journey across one or multiple mentors to meet your specific objectives. If, however, you desire a more extended commitment, our mentors and partners are more than willing to assist you in creating a longer-term plan.
Are there any prerequisites required for a start-up founder to use MentorLabs?
No, all we ask is that you keep an open mind to receive direct feedback on your startup. Our mentors are very experienced with helping founders who have just a concept in mind, through to more advanced early-stage founders that has started to plan or even build their product.
Can I change my mentor if I'm not satisfied?
We have a MentorGaurentee that enables you to request a different mentor if you find that the one you chose didn’t meet your needs or expectations. Please see our mentor guarantee detail further down this page.
Will mentors respect the confidentiality of my business idea?
All our mentors must sign a MentorLabs mentor agreement, which stipulates the strict confidentiality of all discussions and information concerning your company. They are expressly prohibited from sharing such information unless you grant explicit permission, such as for introductions to other individuals or companies.
